However a half time motivational team talk by Andy seemed to inspire the team and finally the Hawks started to match Cobras work rate and determination. Wave after wave of Hawks attacks came to nothing and it looked as if the visitors were going to hold onto victory before a sharp shot from Hong found the back of the net. Spurred on by the goal the Hawks should have sealed the win in the dying seconds but once again failed to beat the brave Cobra keeper. A great game and a deserved draw for both teams. The Hawks welcomed Peckham Town on Sunday in what proved to be a game of two halves. The Hawks took control early on and scored the opener only to let Peckham equalise with some sloppy defending. It was a reminder that we have to work hard and soon the Hawks got back into top gear to race to a 6-1 half-time lead. Then a geat move carved the Eagles apart and the Hawks finally got their reward when Owen poked home the equaliser. This inspired the boys on and agreat day was complete when Spencer riffled the winner into the top right corner of the net. Hawks 4 Sutton United 4
The Hawks started their pre-season programme with a entertaining draw against Sutton United. Sutton got off a fast start and scored early on against the Hawks makeshift defense still missing Ed and Matias. It took a while before the boys worked out their unfamiliar positions but soon the Hawks found their feet and raced into a 4-1 half-time lead with an Aaron goal in between a Owen hat-trick. The second half swung back in Sutton's favour however as they pulled one back while the Hawks were temporarily down to six men. This proved the turning point as a strong Sutton side scored another goal before equalising with the last kick of the match. Overall a draw was a fair result and proved a great workout for both teams before the start of the new season.
Team – Rhys, Spencer, Hong, Jamie, Owen (3), Aaron (1), Mehmet
